Attending in Al- Attiyah Foundation’s 1stn CEO Roundtable in 2025
On January 21, 2025, Dr. Amir Ali Salemi, CEO of JTA International Investment Holding, participated in the Al-Attiyah Foundation’s 1st CEO Roundtable Meeting of 2025, held in Doha, Qatar. The prestigious event brought together a distinguished group of global industry leaders, senior policymakers, and international sustainability experts for a high-level discussion on the theme: “Balancing Economic Growth and Climate Action in the Energy Sector.”
Representing JTA International Investment Holding, a global investment group active across energy, infrastructure, health, and tourism, Dr. Amir Ali Salemi joined fellow executives to explore innovative strategies for achieving net-zero goals while maintaining robust economic development. The roundtable, held under the Chatham House Rule to encourage open dialogue, tackled one of the most pressing issues facing the global energy industry today—the urgent need to accelerate the energy transition while ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
Throughout the session, participants emphasized the pivotal role of innovation, technology, and public-private collaboration in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They cited that global investment in clean energy surpassed $1.7 trillion in 2023, reflecting a critical shift toward sustainable energy systems. The dialogue focused on how to maintain this momentum and scale it further through bold policy frameworks, supportive regulations, and transformative business models.
A key takeaway from the discussion was the growing consensus that the clean energy transition must be inclusive, equitable, and job-generating. As noted by various panelists, the global shift to a low-carbon economy could create up to 30 million new jobs worldwide by 2030, offering an unprecedented opportunity for economic revitalization, particularly in emerging and developing markets. For JTA International Investment Holding, which has consistently championed responsible investment in high-impact sectors, this vision aligns closely with the company’s long-term objectives.
Dr. Amir Ali Salemi actively engaged in the conversation, contributing insights based on JTA International Investment Holding’sexperience in implementing large-scale investments that support both economic development and environmental stewardship. He stressed the importance of strategic partnerships that align financial resources, governmental support, and community needs to achieve a sustainable future.
“In today’s interconnected world, climate action cannot be separated from economic growth,” remarked Dr. Amir Ali Salemi after the event. “At JTA International Investment Holding, we are committed to investing in solutions that not only address the global climate challenge but also create real value for societies. It was an honor to join this forward-thinking dialogue with peers who share this responsibility.”
The roundtable also addressed the systemic challenges involved in the energy transition, including supply chain bottlenecks, the need for workforce reskilling, and the modernization of energy infrastructure. Experts called for increased alignment between corporate strategies and national climate targets, particularly as more than 130 countries have now committed to net-zero emissions by 2050.
The panel of speakers featured internationally renowned figures such as:
- Janos Pasztor, former Assistant Secretary for Climate Change at the United Nations,
- Ovais Sarmad, former Deputy Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC and UN Assistant Secretary-General,
- Professor Jacopo Torritti, a leading expert in economics and policy at Reading University,
- Creon Butler, Director of the Global Economy and Finance Programme at Chatham House.
Closing the session, H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Ibrahim, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Al-Attiyah Foundation, extended his appreciation to all participants and reiterated the Foundation’s mission to facilitate evidence-based dialogue on global energy and sustainability challenges. He called for deeper collaboration between governments, corporations, and investors to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and clean technologies at scale.
JTA International Investment Holding was proud to stand alongside other member organizations of the Al-Attiyah Foundation, including ExxonMobil, Shell, TotalEnergies, ConocoPhillips, Sasol, Marubeni, QatarEnergy, Total energy, Qatar LNG, Qapco and QNB, among others.
