The high-profile event, titled “Energy Security: Future Demand and Promising Options,” brought together top decision-makers, globally renowned experts, and dignitaries to discuss pressing issues surrounding energy security in the present and future.

The panel explored the profound impacts of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on Europe’s energy supply, detailing the region’s shift from Russian gas to alternative sources like Norway and increased LNG imports. This transition has accelerated the adoption of renewable energy across Europe, with wind power now contributing 19% to the EU electricity mix, reducing both gas dependency and CO2 emissions.
The discussion also tackled the global challenge of rising energy demand and the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. His Excellency Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah highlighted the critical importance of ensuring reliable and affordable energy access amidst the complexities of today’s energy landscape.
